TGBA 2009-2010 Goals and initiatives - Business
Association List serve: This is an instant means of communicating with other businesses in the neighborhood..
have a question/problem/suggestion- put it on the list serve and hear what other business owners have to say. To join
go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TowerGroveBA Only business owners are on this list.
- FREE ADVERTIZING- we now have a Morgan Ford Strip Facebook page. It has
over 500 neighborhood people on the list...if your business is running a special, has something to announce, is going to change
business hours etc....this is a great FREE way to get the word out to customers in the area. This a service for
TGBA members only.
- Property
List- we are in the process of creating a list with commercial spaces for list in the area to help direct potential new
businesses to available spaces. Placing ads on this space will be for members only but the general public will have
access to view options.
- TGBA
Website- www.tgba.org is up and has all current members listed with links to their websites. This again is a FREE benifit to TGBA members.
You can renew your membership online and we will invoice you or print the application and mail it with your check to our post
office box.
- Board Openings-
We are eager to hear everyones thoughts and suggestions on ways to support and grow business in our neighborhood. Please
consider becoming a board member - board members meet once a month usually before the general meeting. So two hours
a month...not bad.
- Spread
the Word - There are businesses in the area who are not members or are not aware of the organization. Please encourage
or direct them to the TGBA through the website or by emailing one of the current board members. Thanks.
Safety Maddie from Local Harvest shared this info. We had a break in at a our store a few weeks ago.
They were tidy and didn't get much at all---hopefully because the alarm scared them off and no money on premises.2. One
of our employees was badly beaten and robbed (only $6) at Bent and Juniata. It
was at about 2 a.m., but I know lots of our bars on Morganford have folks leaving late. Just a heads up about recent
activity. Space Needed: Lionel Baily is an owner of 3 business including a security
business, commercial cleaning services and landscaping services. He is looking for space to relocate to our area from
the Bevo area. If you have or know of space please contact him at: Lionel R. Bailey Sr. 314-752-5900 office, 314-752-2247 Fax, 314-277-6141 24 hourAu

bands will be performing in 45 minute sets. KDHX has agreed to DJ the event and make an “in kind”
donation of electrical and sound equipment.
There will
be 14 vendor booths for local businesses to sell/display merchandise/art, etc. set up at the car wash parking
lot. A sponsor sheet was distributed with the different levels of sponsorship and the amounts, and the

27, 2009, and was a great success. We had more participation in the neighborhood from the residents and
local businesses coming out to watch the parade. The St. Louis Fire Department was on hand to open the
fire hydrants to cool off the street and the animals. The awards ceremony was held at Tower Pub, along
with a BBQ which was free for participants and sponsored by the local restaurants (3 Monkeys, Tin Can, and Local Harvest Cafe).
There are photos of the event on the Facebook page (Morgan Ford Pet Parade), and a link to news coverage of the event
on Channel 4 news.

Burgett, and manufactured and installed by St. Louis Fabrication Arts. The racks were funded by federal
community block grant money allocated to the project by Alderman Joe Volmer.
- Neighborhood Association Listserve
– The Tower Grove South Neighborhood Association has set up a listserve on yahoo groups which is being used for communication
between neighborhood residents, as well as marketing opportunities for and communication with local businesses.
The residents on the listserve have been discussing the possibility of doing an “identity event”, which
could be used for marketing the neighborhood to the public and increasing our image exposure. One proposal
has been to stage a photograph of all neighborhood residents. It has been proposed to shoot the photograph
from the top of one of the local buildings on the afternoon of Morgan Ford in Motion (Oct. 3) at 4:30 p.m.
- New Website
– TGBA has a new website for the business association: www.tgba.org. All TGBA members are listed on the site, with a link to the member’s
business website (if available). Any member whose website is not listed on the site should send their site
information to Ana Casey for a link to be posted. The website has announcements of upcoming events, media
articles/spots published about the neighborhood, contact information, and information on how to join.
- Other Info on the Web
– There is a Facebook page for “The Morgan Ford Strip” with information of activity happening in the neighborhood,
as well as a Facebook and Myspace page for “Morgan Ford Pet Parade”. The Tower Grove Business
Association now has a Listserve on Yahoo, as well. To subscribe, log on to Yahoo Groups, and locate “Tower
Grove Business Association”. The neighborhood also has community listserves of TGSouth and TGSSTL
for residential issues.
